THE hubby and I had a 'child-free day' over the weekend. And, boy, were we bored!
Before the wee woman was born, I had often heard people with children wondering aloud exactly what it was that they got up to in the days prior to becoming parents.
But it's not until you actually have a child who takes up your every waking thought
that you really understand where those people are coming from.
Seeing as how I am now getting bigger and heavier by the day with Baby Number Two on the way, the doting Granny and Granda had kindly offered to give the hubby and I a break to enjoy some quality rest.
So, off the wee woman and her adoring grandparents went to the beach for the day, armed with buckets and spades, sun cream and a picnic.
And off the hubby and I went to pick our brains and decide what it was we were going to do for a whole day.
It's only on occasions like this that you realise how much your life revolves around your children.
With the hectic pace of everyday life, you can often forget how important it is to take some 'time out', sit back and enjoy what you're going through.
For parents, it's crucial to use that time to reflect on your life as a couple and get back to enjoying the simple things together, like going for a meal or even just enjoying a flick at the cinema every now and again.
As it was, the hubby and I had a nice relaxing day, using the time we had to enjoy a leisurely lunch together, before indulging in some welcome retail therapy. And, of course, we did glance at the clock a few times to check how soon it would be before we got our daughter back.
