Asbestos in SELB schools

Thousands of children attend lessons at schools which contain potentially deadly asbestos, The Tyrone Times can reveal.
Some 260 schools in the Southern Education and Library Board (SELB) area have traces of the killer substance, education officials have admitted.
Documents obtained from the Board reveal that asbestos is known to be present in almost 90% of the 300 schools across the southern region.
The SELB has stressed that asbestos is carefully managed under approved guidelines, and in the majority of cases presents no risk to staff or pupils.
