THOSE responsible for a spate of crime and anti-social behaviour in the townland of Killen outside Coalisland, are "intimidating" the entire community, according to a local politician.
In the latest incident, a young family have left the area following an attack on their home at the weekend. It is understood a fence post was used to smash a window at the property.
And, in a more sinister development, the Tyrone Times has learned that a number of people purporting to be from a republican paramilitary group visited a house in Killen and issued a threat to the safety of one of its occupants.
In an interview with the Times, Mid Ulster Sinn Fein MLA, Francie Molloy, said he was unaware of any threat, but said police needed to respond to the ongoing situation and protect people living in the area.
"There has been a particularly bad situation in Killen for some time", explained the local councillor.
"There has been a lot of anti-social behaviour from a very small group of people and it is unacceptable.
"I raised the issue at Wednesday's meeting of the district policing partnership and challenged Inspector Moneypenny that police were not responding to the needs of the people in Killen.

Anyone who has any information on the attack can contact police on 0845 600 8000.
