POLICE are to hold a meeting with residents of a border village which has been plagued by months of anti-social behaviour and vandalism.
People living in Aughnacloy claim their lives have been made a misery by acts of vandalism and anti-social behaviour.
The latest incident occurred days ago when street lights at the McCreedy Mill Centre in the village were smashed by vandals, causing £800 worth of damage.
There has also been serious vandalism at the local health centre while last year changing rooms belonging to the local football team were destroyed by vandals.
Angry residents accused the police of failing to offer enough protection during a stormy meeting of the borough's District Policing Partnership in the Aughnacloy last Wednesday night.
The meeting was read a letter from the local GP, Dr David McCord, who said that life in the village was "rapidly becoming intolerable".
Another resident told the meeting that "police had lost the battle big time".
