Outcry over Assembly's refusal to investigate pylon health fears

A POLITICIAN and a local action group have rounded on the Minister for Health, Michael McGimpsey, after he refused to investigate health fears over the proposed multi million pound cross-border electricity interconnector which will cut through a swathe of Tyrone.
Local MLA Maurice Morrow, who asked the minister to investigate the concerns, condemned the move and vowed to pursue the matter further.
"In putting this question to the minister, I had hoped that he would have had at least responded in some form to the very genuine health fears that are concerning many local residents," said the DUP peer.
"I would have expected him to at least address the fears and allay any concerns if they were unfounded.
"In this way he could have offered some reassurance to local people. By not addressing the fears he is only making matters worse."
