RACIST attacks on Polish and Lithuanian families in Moygashel have been slammed as "cowardly acts of intimidation".
All of the victims, including a pregnant woman and a young child, have since moved out of their homes.
Three families had bricks thrown through the windows of their homes and cars during the attacks, which occurred in the Moygashel Park, Main Road a
nd Grove Way.
Bricks, which had notes attached, stating: "Foreign nationals not welcome in Moygashel. One week to move out", were also thrown.
Police are still appealing for information about two youths seen in the area around the time of the incidents and would like the public's assistance in bringing those responsible to justice.
Widespread criticism followed news of the attacks, details of which featured in last week's issue of the Tyrone Times.
Abed Natur, Manager of the Law and Migrant Rights Centre in Dungannon, expressed his "dismay" at the acts of violence against the families.
Mr Natur, who heads up the centre run by the South Tyrone Empowerment Programme (STEP), said:
"Polish and Lithuanian nationals, like everyone else, are entitled to live here in liberty and dignity. We trust that the racist messages are not reflective of the community as a whole, but instead encapsulate the narrow-minded perspective of a minority of individuals in the area."
The local migrant rights worker continued: "It is both alarming and disheartening that a number of the targeted individuals were displaced from their homes, violating their rights to their home, private and family life. At this time, now, more than ever, other country nationals need the support and indeed reassurance from the surrounding local community and community development organisations."
The Law and Migrant Rights Centre provides professional legal advice and information in the areas of immigration, employment, social security, housing and education.
Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed two youths - one wearing a white/grey hooded top, the other a black hooded top - in the Moygashel area during the early hours of the morning on Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21. Detectives can be contacted on 0845 600 8000.
