SMOKERS in the Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough are happy to abide by the law, it seems, after it was revealed that the number of fines imposed for breaching the ban in public places, was ZERO.
Across Northern Ireland, more than 130 people have been fined in the twelve months since the smoking ban was imposed.
The majority of penalties was given to drivers of work vehicles.
According to figures released by the council in Dungannon, it appears the smoking ban has been closely observed by anyone who enjoys a puff.
A council spokesperson revealed that there were no fixed penalties and no fines issued since the ban became widespread.
However, out of almost 1,170 inspections, there were a total of 40 warnings issued.
Health Minister, Michael McGimpsey, said the ban represented a "major milestone for public health".
"When at work and out socialising, we are no longer exposed to toxic second hand smoke - smoke that contains over 4,000 chemicals, many of which cause cancer, from which we previously had little or no protection," he said.
