THE Big Lottery Fund and UTV have launched the fourth year of the popular People's Millions competition allowing communities across Co Tyrone and Northern Ireland to put in their bids to receive up to £50,000 in Lottery funding.
Groups across the Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough and Northern Ireland as a whole again have the chance to win the public's support and share in up to £250,000 of Lottery Good Cause money. Five awards of up to £50,000 will be up for grabs to carry
out projects that improve and enrich local communities.
Local people will be able to vote for their favourite project to transform the local environment through schemes that will improve amenities, public and green spaces, buildings or the natural environment and to help local people enjoy their area through a range of activities.
Organisations have until the 15 May 2008 to enter the competition. UTV viewers will be able to vote on which local community projects they want to win the Lottery good cause funding, when the on-air contest hits TV screens in November.
Since the launch of People's Millions in 2005, a total of £750,000 has been awarded to 12 projects in Northern Ireland. Previous winners have been using their awards to make their local communities better places to live.
Application packs for People's Millions are available by calling the hotline: 08450 10 11 12* or by
visiting www.peoplesmillions.org.uk The deadline for applications is 15 May 2008.
