St.Patricks Academy, Dungannon somehow have to come down from the high of MacRory Cup win No.4 in time for the Hogan Cup semi-final with Athlone CC at Clontibret, 2.30pm today, Saturday.
They produced a storming second half performance on St.Patricks Day to come from five points down against St.Michaels Enniskillen to grab a dramatic injury-time winner and now stand an hour away from a place in their third Hogan Cup Final, their first in four years.
Coalisland Fianna clubman Louis O'Neill was one of the heroes for Ciaran Gourley and Peter Herron's men and the fullback revealed that he is still coming to terms with their brilliant win.
"It still hasn't sunk in yet; it was a shock to have come back the way that we did in the second half.
"We came in at halftime and we perhaps doubted our ability after the first half display, but we were a totally transformed side in the second half. We really were crap in the first half, we just didn't show up.
"We can't afford a similar first half." "I don't know if it was nerves of the big occasion or what; we played none of the football that we had done in quarter-final or semi-final."
They now have to focus in time for the next big challenge and, no doubt, Monday's comeback win will have done wonders for confidence.
Louis admits to knowing nothing about Athlone after revealing that they only knew they were playing this weekend in the dressing room after the MacRory decider.
"We know nothing about them. Peter Herron found out some brief things but nothing in great detail; but I'm sure we'll find out more before the game. It's a Hogan semi-final and we'll give it our best shot and hopefully continue where we left off in Monday's fnal. One thing is for sure, we can't afford a similar first half. We trained for the first time again on Wednesday and its all about getting back into it again.
"It was a shock to us that we had to play again so quickly. We came into the changing room and were celebrating like mad when Peter Herron quietened us all down and said: 'That's it, the Hogan semi-final is this Saturday'; we couldn't believe it" revealed Louis, right.
