The Red Hands are the holders of the title but they were made to work hard for an opening round success over Down and Cathal McAnenly admits that it will take a better performance to see off a Cavan side who have shown their worth in their two champ
ionship outings.
"Cavan are a very good side and we can't afford to play as we did in the first half against Down.
"At halftime the last day the lads knew that they needed a big second half display or we were exiting at the first hurdle but thankfully they did it but we are well aware that we can't start like that against Cavan.
"They already have wins over Antrim and Armagh behind them in the championship and we aren't really surprised that they have reached the semi final.
"During the league they won all but one of their games - and that was in a group with Down and Meath; and, with us having played both those sides, we have a fair idea of what Cavan are capable of."
Tyrone were slow out of the blocks against Down and they almost paid dearly for it, with their keeper Tim Harney having to make two outstanding saves in the first half to keep them in contention when they were under the cosh.
That game will surely stand to them, though, and they go into Sunday's game with a clean bill of health apart from long-term absentee Ronan McNabb.
"Ronan is a few weeks away yet but apart from him all the other niggly injuries appear to have cleared up and hopeful we won't be far away from being at full strength.
"We haven't done a lot of heavy training with the lads since the quarter final as they have been involved with their clubs at various levels but we are ready for the challenge ahead.
Cavan are a well drilled team who are extremely fit and we are in no doubt that we are in for a tough battle but that's the nature of championship football and we will be ready for it" added McAnenly, who insists Raymond Munroe's team has a final goal.
