Stewartstown set out a firm marker of their championship credentials with a comfortable victory over Beragh in a very disappointing Junior championship preliminary round tie, at Fr Hackett Park Augher on Sunday, writes Geoffrey Gillis.
Beragh scored the opening two points of the game, but for the duration of the contest, they played second best to a rampant Harps side, who dominated play in every sector of the field. Playing some excellent passages of football Stewartstown with Colm Devlin and Wayne Conlon leading by example from defence carried the game confidently to Beragh and, having raced into a 1-10 to 0-3 lead, they eased over the line.
Edward Laverty and Mickey Mulgrew dominated midfield over the hard working Enda Donnelly and Paddy Kelly, while in attack Pater Armour, Anton Coyle, Gareth Devlin and Tyrone minor star Ryan Devlin posed the Red Knights serious problems, as the East Tyrone men advanced to a first round tussle with Tattyreagh.
