Emma Fitzgerald who picked up an Ulster Colleges medal earlier this year put the first score on the board with a crafty point for Tyrone after 2 minutes.
Monaghan's Marie Greenan retaliated within minutes with a superb goal into the left hand corner of the net. Both teams rallied from end to end.
The Farney camogs added another two points from Eleanor McQuaid and Marie Greenan. Francis Bigley connected on a pass from Eglish team mate Leona Gallagher and bagged the first goal for the Red Hands.
A fine pass from Emma Fitzgerald resulted in a Leona Gallagher point to level the scores after only ten minutes of play. Roisin McKenna was outstanding in the Monaghan nets and pulled off some magnificent saves.
Tyrone dominated for the following ten minutes and surged ahead with a goal from Emma Fitzgerald and a point from a free taken by Doiretreasc's Aisling Corr. Monaghan's defence held out to the severe pressures from the speedy Tyrone forwards. Marie Greenan made no mistake in dodging the Tyrone keeper to score her second goal in the game.
There were excellent displays of individual skill and teamwork in the game including some fine solo runs from Maeve McGurk and the very skilful Aisling Corr.
The score of the match was a superb long range point from Ulster College Allstar Shauna Jordan for Tyrone. The final ten minutes of the first half belonged to Monaghan. Two consective points from play by Edel Kieran Monaghan brought the sides level for the second time. Tyrone's Shauna Jordan pointed in injury time to leave her side in control at the interval. Half time score: Tyrone 2-5 Monaghan 2-4.
Shauna Jordan Tyrone was in scoring form from the resumption of play with two quick points to give the Purcell Cup medalist a hat trick. Monaghan gallantly fought to the final whistle but scores eluded them. Marie Greenan converted two well taken frees to finish their scoring in the 2008 Ulster Junior Final.
Tyrone drifted ahead with a long range point from Leona Gallagher 0-1, an Aisling Corr free and a fine point from play by Emma McErlean 0-1. Shauna Jordon was on scoring form again after a fine Brenda Horsefield long range free. Maeve McGurk registered another point for Tyrone after excellent defense work from Brenda Horsefield and industrious captain Julie Lagan.
Monaghan kept the pressure on and superb defense work from Rionach Lavery and goalkeeper Paula Neill kept the scores at bay. The final score of the game came from former county chairperson Leona Gallagher. She blasted a fine pass from her Eglish team mate Maria Jordan to the back of the net. Final score Tyrone 3-12 Monaghan 2-6
Ulster Council Chairperson Catherine O'Hara thanked both counties for their continous efforts in promoting Camogie on presenting the cup. She congratulated both teams on a magnificent display of camogie throughout the game. On receiving the Ulster Cup an elated Julie Lagan spoke of her delight of accepting the Cup on behalf of her team in a very special Ulster Final.
At the interval young camogs form Tyrone and Monaghan, and local U-10 camogs from host club Port Mor and neighbours Tullysarron took to the field. Well done to all the mentors of the underage for organising and taking the girls to the game.
