A very merry Christmas carol from Cookstown drama academy

IN this year of the Dickens’ bicentenary celebration, it is only appropriate that Class Act Drama Academy’s most recent performance was A Christmas Carol although it was an original, adapted version incorporating humour and music.

Vibrant acting, clear voices and Christmassy music made the performances of the young people in the Class Act Drama Academy stage school at the Bardic Theatre a huge success.

Directed by Cliodhna McAleer, the Cookstown class teacher, this play really had the audience gripped and entertained in equal measure. The young actors showed how they were able to use their physical and vocal skills to create various dramatic contexts within the play.

Class Act Drama Academy offers classes in performance skills and drama using a specially developed curriculum taught by highly qualified drama professionals. Not only does Class Act Drama Academy promote personal development for young people but many students from the Academy go on to work in film, television and on stage as professionals themselves. It is great to see these huge achievements in local children especially when the Academy curriculum starts with students as young as 4 years old!

These popular classes involve speech work, movement, music and mime, and a range of performance arts to enhance creativity, communication and acting skills. The confidence that drama gives children cannot be underestimated and a child with high self-esteem is more able to achieve their full potential both academically and socially. Parents are impressed at the quick development of their children through the Academy programme.

The Cookstown classes are held weekly in the Cookstown Leisure Centre. All Academy classes are run by teachers from the local area.

Class Act Drama Academy is now enrolling for the January term. If you would like more details or to enrol please contact 028 91464337 or visit the website www.classactdramaacademy.com
