Festival of Praise at Dungannon Park

Dungannon Area Churches’ Forum held its annual Family Festival of Praise in Dungannon Park on Sunday 3rd June.

The theme of “Reconciliation” was reflected in the reading, prayers and music.

St Patrick’s Dungannon Church Choir led the singing, the music being co-ordinated by Mrs Helen McRory.

The chairperson Miss Angela McAnespie, welcomed the Mayor, Councillor Kenneth Reid who, in turn, welcomed all to the service.

The readings and prayers were by members from many different churches in Dungannon Borough area.

One hymn, the Peace Hymn, the choir sang in Irish. Mrs McRory told how it had been written by a 16 year old Dungannon girl for her GCSE course.

Before the choir sang it Mrs McRory gave a translation of it. It was so moving that one reader coming after singing of it commented on it saying that reconciliation was in the hands of the 16 year olds.

The Forum, as always, is most appreciative of the support and practical help given each year by Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council.

The Chairman and members thank all those who, despite many other attractions of the weekend attended.
