Lauren celebrates Gold Cup achievement at luxurious resort
Celebrations were underway at the Lough Erne Golf resort recently as four of the Resort’s Culinary team, all former South West College students, extoled NVQ Professional Cookery student, Lauren Beavers, on winning the Escoffier Gold Cup which they too had previously won while attending the college.
Lauren’s achievement was praised by leading Chef, Noel McMeel, who was delighted to discover that his team also had such a special link with the Gold Cup.
The four chefs, Stephen Holland, Andrew Leonard, Ryan Ewing & Stephen Sloan recalled their competitive exploits to Lauren and offered their encouragement to her to continue in her pursuit of excellence.
Lauren’s accolade, presented by the college at the Celebration of Success Event recently, topped an award winning year for the talented young chef. The cup was awarded to recognise her achievements at IFEX and her commendable success winning the prestigious Raymond Blanc scholarship competition that was held recently at North West Regional College.
Lauren becomes the seventh winner of the Gold Cup, which was presented to the College by Sean and Helen Owens, G2 Magherafelt, to recognise a student’s exceptional achievements in the competitive arena each year.
Lauren is now looking forward to her scholarship in the Two Michelin Star, Le Manoir aux Quat Saisons, Oxfordshire in August. The future is certainly very bright for this young lady!
