Local Translink Manager receives prestigious award
THERE were great celebrations at Dungannon Golf Club recently when Rotarian John Kidd was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship award.
Mr Kidd joined Ulster Bus in 1969, commencing his career in Ballymena.
In 1982 he was transferred to Dungannon as Depot Manager.
John’s title then changed to District Manager and in 2005, he became District Manager of Armagh and Dungannon.
He went on to retire after having giving over 40 years of loyal service.
In 1991 John joined the Rotary Club of Dungannon and he is held in the highest esteem by all the members,
Over this period John has held many key positions in the Club, accepting the role of Secretary for a great many years.
A spokesperson for the organisation said: “The Rotary members have witnessed John’s involvement with the various School Projects and fundraising initiatives they have undertaken over the many years since he joined.
“He has been a key player in the Club and epitomises the Rotary mantra, ‘Service above self’.
“Through having committed members like John in Rotary, it enables the club to help people in need both locally and internationally.”
John is one of four Club members to have received this prestigious award.
He was joined on the day by his wife Anne.
Hearty congratulations are expressed to Mr Kidd from all his colleagues in Translink and Rotary.
