Marie Curie needs volunteers
VOLUNTEERS are being sought in the South Tyrone area to help with the Marie Cure Cancer Care Great Daffodil Appeal which will take place early next year.
The charity is appealing to people over the age of 16 who are willing to give up a few hours of their time to help raise funds to enable the charity to continue providing invaluable end of life care for the terminally ill in their own homes.
Twenty pounds can provide one hour of nursing care for a loved one and two hours of collection time can yield around £100, which will provide five to six hours of care.
The volunteers will collect in towns and villages around South Tyrone and it’s ideal for students who can note the experience on their CVs as well as a great way of getting involved in the community.
More volunteers means more money can be raised for Marie Curie Cancer Care and this will help provide more free care to people suffering a terminal illness as well as support for the affected families.
There are Marie Curie nurses working in communities all over South Tyrone, and there is a hospice in Belfast.
This year the nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals will care for almost 2,000 people with a terminal illness as well as provide support for their families.
