Mayor makes time for What Really Matters!

MAYOR of Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council, Councillor Phelim Gildernew, is encouraging everyone in the local area to support or take part in “The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning”, this year on Friday 28th September for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is in its 22nd year and is one of the largest fundraising events in the UK. Last year across Northern Ireland alone over 800 coffee mornings were held raising an amazing total of £226,000. This year with your help we want to make it the biggest ever.

Macmillan’s fundraising manager in the area Joanne Young said: “Macmillan is available to all cancer patients and their families from the moment they receive their cancer diagnosis. Our doctors and nurses offer specialist medical care and emotional support, while our benefits advisors help cancer patients get the government benefits and grants they are entitled to.

“Macmillan will even provide grants to people with cancer who are struggling financially. All the services we offer are essential, and we rely on the money raised from events like the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to fund them. So we are asking the people of Dungannon and South Tyrone to put a smile on their mug and help Macmillan reach more people affected by cancer in their area.”

The Mayor of Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council, Councillor Phelim Gildernew, has supported the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event throughout the years and reported: “It is a fantastic community event for everyone to get involved in. I am delighted to support the event in aid of such a great cause.”
