McFlynn welcomes Moneymore road resurfacing
SDLP Councillor Christine McFlynn has welcomed the completion of recent road resurfacing work at Moneymore.
“I welcome the completion of the resurfacing work along Springhill Road leading into Moneymore and the upgrading of the footpath,” said Councillor McFlynn.
“The footpath has been extended onto Loup Road and I’m hopeful if funds become available the path will be extended further.
“Local residents will be particularly grateful that the work was completed before the arrival of any severe winter weather.
She added: “I have asked Road Service to examine the possibility of installing extra safety railings near the chapel due to the dangerous drop along that stretch of the road.
“I will continue to lobby for the necessary work to be done on other roads in the area for the benefit of all road users.”
“Our rural roads are a vital lifeline for local communities and the local economy. It is essential that they are maintained to the highest possible standards.
Councillor McFlynn concluded: “The SDLP will continue to argue for the development of a co-ordinated, and properly funded, strategy to improve our rural roads network.”
