Moneymore man admits drink driving

A MONEYMORE man has been disqualified from driving and fined £100 after a drink driving incident in April of this year.

Damien Thomas Atkinson, 25, of Rockview Park, Moneymore was detected by police driving under the influence on April 15.

Atkinson pleaded guilty to the charges following the incident.

At the time Atkinson was detected police had been operating a checkpoint. Atkinson stopped short of the checkpoint and turned his vehicle.

He was then stopped by police and found to be driving under the influence and taken to custody.

Here his blood alcohol reading was discovered to be 92mg, 22mg above the upper limit of 70mg.

District Judge John Meehan banned Atkinson from driving for a year and imposed a £100 fine.
