More than 200 youngsters enjoy town summer scheme
OVER 200 children and young people have enjoyed a range of activities and gained valuable skills during a fortnight of summer scheme provision at Dungannon Youth Resource Centre.
Youngsters aged between six and 12 years old took part in various team and individual activities including music, drama, dance, jewellery making and African drumming, and travelled on outings such as Crazy Golfing in Dundonald, swimming in Lisburn and the movies in Dungannon.
The funding for the summer scheme was secured through the Southern Education and Library Board (SELB) from Dungannon and Coalisland Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership.
Chairman of the Partnership, Francie Molloy MLA, said: “This is a very good project with lots of activity for young people and great participation by everyone.
“I feel this is a good use of funding and the resource centre is a good centre to deliver this programme in. This again shows the benefit of the renovation project in relation to the Dungannon Youth Resource Centre.”
The Youth Resource Centre has also announced details of group work, development, teambuilding and project work activities, for older members, which will take place from Tuesday, August 28 until Friday, August 31.
This scheme is open to 12 to 19 year-olds within the Dungannon area who would have an interest in developing their skills in IT, group work, outdoor education and for those who are open to trying something new.
