A COALISLAND pharmacist has helped raise almost £300 for her community after coming up with a ‘picture perfect’ way of raising the cash.

Adele Graham, who works in O’Neill Chemists in the town, raised the vital funds for the Order of Malta Ambulance Service by asking those who needed her signature for passport photographs to donate to the cause.

The 43 year-old is well-known in her role as pharmacist and is approached quite a lot by the many people she has gotten to know in her time working at the Main Street chemists.

She decided in January to raise the cash for the ambulance service to help fund equipment. In less than nine months Adele raised£250 and is putting some more money towards the cheque, which was presented to the Order of Malta Ambulance Service last Friday.

“I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who donated over the last number of months,” said Adele.

“I decided at the start of the year that I wanted to raise cash for a local charity and chose the Order of Malta Ambulance Service because of the invaluable service it provides the community.

“I get asked quite a lot to sign passport photographs for people that I know in the community so I thought it was a good idea to ask them if they wanted to donate.

“Each time we got two, three maybe even five pounds and it has built up to around £250. It’s a great achievement and what’s even better is that it going to a local charity that helps the community.”

Adele presented the cheque to a representative of the Order of Malta Ambulance Service on Friday at O’Neill’s Chemist.
