PUPILS at St Patrick’s College, Maghera took part in a sponsored ‘Read It’ to raise money for the charity Praxis Care.

Geraldine Andrews from Praxis Care came into the school to talk to the pupils about the charity and the charity challenge.

Year 8, 9 and 10 pupils read as many books as they could and got sponsorship for this.

A cheque of £715.67 was presented to Geraldine Andrews in aid of Praxis Care by pupils of St Patrick’s College who took part in the sponsored fundraiser.

Oran McGuigan, a year 9 pupil raised the most money and was presented with a portable DVD player.

Teacher in charge of the event in St Patrick’s, Miss Mary O’Kane spoke of her delight at the pupil response and thanked everyone who contributed to the event.

Praxis Care aims to empower adults and children with mental ill health, Learning disability or acquired brain injury to enjoy everyday living, irrespective of the complexity of their needs.
