The Vikings – The Return

LOUGH Neagh is the backdrop to an impressive Viking Raid at Maghery Country Park on Saturday 8th September 2012 from 11.00am.

Watch the Vikings clamouring ashore welding swords and shields, yelling their war cry, and pillaging the ‘village’.

Send the Viking Chieftain on this way to the ‘afterlife’ in spectacular style!

Watch battle tactics, Viking crafts and cooking displays, blacksmithing, have a go at archery and take a boat trip to nearby Coney Island.

View the rare breads and the birds of prey and enjoy rides in a horse drawn carriage. Children’s water zorbing, inflatable slides and bouncy castles, and much more!

Maghery Country Park is located in the village of Maghery on the Lough Neagh Shore signposted all the way from both Junctions 12 and 13 of the M1.

It is expected that around 1000 people will attend the event. Event committee member, Tommy Glenny said, “This event will further promote the uniqueness of the Lough Neagh area and create opportunities for local people to work together in harmony to create awareness of our shared cultural past.

The Vikings – The Return has received funding from Craigavon Borough Council, Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council, the International Fund for Ireland, and the Department of Foreign Affairs, and supported by local businesses.
