The Way to the Crock Road- Ardboe book launch
ARDBOE WOMAN, Maura Campbell will be returning to her roots to launch her new book “The Way to the Crock Road” in Ardboe Parish Centre on Saturday 27th October at 8pm.
An evening of good craic, good music and good food is to be had by all including a number of local historical societies, local politicians and the Deputy First Minister, Martin Mc Guinness.
There will also be a presentation by historian Roy Hamilton on our local history.
Maura explains that the book is a reflection on childhood memories growing up in Ardboe during the 1950s and 60s: “At the time rural Tyrone was a world away from what it is now. Everything was very different, growing up with no electricity, running water or the comforts of modern life gave me a perspective on life which has stayed with me.
“Being part of a family of six children had its own experiences that many of my friends and neighbours can relate to.
“It was a life before television so you had to discover the world around you for yourself and being in the countryside on the lough shore I was always close to nature.”
Maura continued: “I am looking forward to the launch and sharing my childhood memories, the stories and the craic of a life in years gone by. Everyone is welcome to come along and I look forward to meeting up with old friends and some new ones too.”
The Ardboe Parish Centre will be the venue for what promises to be a very enjoyable evening with music provided by “Two’s Company” and a buffet supper will sustain guests for the evening.
Books will be available to purchase on the night at a special rate.
