Whellbarrow push to visit Tyrone
Dungannon and Cookstown will be among the destinations for two fitness enthusiasts as they seek to raise £50,000 for charity.
Glenn Wilkinson and Scott McGarry will take part in a six day endurance challenge to pus each other ‘mile for mile’ in a wheel barrow in towns across Northern Ireland, and they will be in Dungannon and Cookstown on Wednesday 27th June.
They will be doing so in a bid to raise vital funds for Freedom House, a Ballymena based charity offering support programmes to young women suffering from eating disorders, self harm, depression and abuse.
“The Big Push for Freedom” challenge will commence on Monday 25th June
2012 in Ballymena and will see both fitness instructors push each an amazing 300km through local towns and villages.
If the men complete the challenge this will be a first Guinness World Record for a two man wheel barrow push.
Speaking about the challenge Glenn said: “We want to raise awareness of Freedom House because parts of NI have the highest rates of drug addiction, teenage pregnancies and deaths related to alcohol amongst young females and the charity provides a fantastic support network to help women in these situations.
“We will be pushing each other 50km in each county for a total of 12 hours per day. We have set up a Just Giving Page, so should anyone like to support us, please visit www.justgiving.com/the-bigpush.
You can also donate by texting PUSH55 £(amount) to 70070.
