THE Alzheimer’s Society is celebrating being chosen as the Foyle Food Group’s Charity of Choice for 2013.
With offices based in Cookstown, the Foyle Food Group is the largest primary beef processor in Northern Ireland and has a long standing history of supplying quality beef to leading retailers, manufacturers, foodservice providers and butchers throughout the world.
Nigel McIlwaine, Group Finance & HR Director said: “We are delighted to support Alzheimer’s Society for the first time.
“The value of our partnership with Alzheimer’s Society is £15,000 which will fund vital support and services for people with dementia and their carers across Northern Ireland.”
Janet Plunkett, Community Fundraising Manager, Alzheimer’s Society in Northern Ireland said, ‘This is fantastic news for Alzheimer’s Society. There are 750,000 people with dementia in the UK, with 18,000 living in NI. This number is set to rise across the UK to one million by 2021; it is the greatest challenge of our generation.
We support people affected by dementia in a number of ways, through one-to-one support, information programmes, activity groups/dementia cafés, befriending and advocacy services across the province.
We are grateful that the Foyle Food Group’s support will help us to continue this vital work.’
