Appeal for witnesses after Dungannon police chase that led to two young men being arrested

Police in Dungannon are calling for witnesses after a car approaching a vehicle check point sped off injuring an officer’s leg.

Two young men, aged 19 and 20, were arrested after police gave chase - but later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Speaking about the incident, Sgt Owen Conroy said: “A black car made off at speed from police in the vicinity of the Stangmore roundabout at around 5pm on Monday, March 23. Police pursued the vehicle.

“A short time later one officer sustained a minor injury to his leg after the vehicle failed to stop at a vehicle check point.

“A 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old man were arrested for various motoring offences, both were released on bail pending further enquiries.
