POLICE uncovered cannabis worth an estimated street value of £400,000 following a planned search of a property in the Coleraine area last Wednesday.
A 56-year-old man was arrested and released on bail, pending further police enquiries.
Commenting on the seizure, Area Commander for Coleraine, Chief Inspector Nicky Thompson said: “Officers have been working with the local community in Coleraine to tackle the issue of drug supply and distribution.
“The discovery of this cannabis factory is an indication of our commitment to remove drugs from circulation. Through seizures of this nature, we are reducing the harm that is caused by drugs in communities.
“We have taken these drugs off the street and have made our communities safer as a result. We will continue to work with communities and partner agencies to reduce the threat posed by drugs.”
C/Insp Thompson added: “I would appeal to the community to bring any information relating to drugs to police, by either contacting 0845 600 8000 or alternatively information can be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
