Warning signs are to be installed at a notorious accident blackspot after a safety campaign led by local councillors.

SDLP Councillors Sharon Mc Aleer and Rosemarie Shields have welcomed the prompt response of Transport NI in providing warning signs and chevron board signs at the Altamuskin Road and Whitebridge Road area.

A series of collisions have occurred at a dangerous double bend, leading to fears that the rural road near Ballygawley was becoming a deathtrap.

Councillor Mc Aleer, who represents the Clogher Valley area, stated “After being made aware of an increase in collisions at this bend, Transport NI was contacted and an assessment was carried out.

“The signs are to make motorists aware of the double bend and corner alignment in an area.

“The double bend on this busy road has been causing concern for some time and warning signs are welcomed.”
