BREAKING: Prominent Republican Declan McGlinchey dies suddenly at his Bellaghy home

Bellaghy parish priest Fr Andrew Dolan has spoken of his shock after the sudden death of Declan McGlinchey, a son of former INLA leader Dominic McGlinchey.

Declan McGlinchey (39), a father-of-seven, died in the early hours of Monday morning from a suspected heart attack.

Parish priest Fr Andrew Dolan, who was called to the family home near Bellaghy, said it was an awful tragedy for the family.

He said the funeral would be held in Bellaghy following a post mortem to establish the cause of death.

“It is awful. There were a lot of people gathered there last night and everyone is shocked,” he added.

Mr McGlinchey’s parents, Dominic and Mary are buried in St Mary’s churchyard.
