A woman had to flee a house with her children in the early hours because of her brother’s drunken behaviour, a court has heard.

Conor Mallen, 32, from Ardnaskea Park in Coalisland, was discovered driving around Drumcoo Green just before 4am on December 14.

When he got out he fell over and later provided a breath sample over twice the legal limit.

Mr Noel Dillon, defending, told the court that his client had issues with drugs and alcohol but was seeking professional help.

He said that this was his seventh conviction for no insurance and second for drink driving.

Handing down a total prison sentence of three months and a two year driving ban, District Judge John Meehan said that the time had come for the defendant to take responsibility for his actions.

He also imposed a fine of £100 and an offender’s levy of £25.
