Owner bribed for return of 4x4 stolen from Pomeroy playing fields

Detectives are investigating a report of theft after a black Toyota Landcruiser was stolen from playing fields in Pomeroy and the owner bribed for its return.

Detective Inspector Will Tate said: “It was reported that a black Toyota Landcruiser was taken from playing fields in the Pomeroy area sometime between 2pm and 3pm on July 6.

“It was later reported that the owner was contacted by someone on July 10 purporting to have the vehicle in their possession and that it would be returned if they were to hand over a sum of money.

“Police are keen hear from anyone who noticed anything suspicious in and around the area on the day the vehicle was taken. Can you help with our enquiries? If you can the number to call is 101, quoting reference number 147710715.

“Alternatively information about crime can be passed via the independent Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.”
