A Dungannon dog has been giving police and his owners quite the run around after going missing late on Sunday evening.

Sarge, who was spotted by an eagle eyed local on Moy Road at around 6am this morning, was later found after police shared an appeal to find him online.

We went and checked our old home where Sarge spent most of his life; thank God he was sitting in the back yard - Sarge’s owner

The wandering pooch was found “safe and sound” at the home where he had spent most of his life, before his people moved house and took him with them.

“Found safe and sound!” they said on the PSNI Dungannon Facebook page.

“After receiving some information regarding seeing Sarge at 6am on a nearby road, we went and checked our old home where Sarge spent most of his life; thank God he was sitting in the back yard.

“He’s now been safely returned home.”

The 10-year-old German Shepherd clearly had everyone involved very worried.

Police and his owners thanked everyone who shared their post.

“I cannot thank everyone who shared and liked this post and all the others! Let this be a lesson to all other dog owners to be extra vigilant!”
