Dungannon farmer David Hazelton, scooped the intermediate and supreme overall championship ribbons for his Simmental bull, which secured a bid of 15,000gns [over £15,000] at a top breeders show in Stirling.

David spoke his delight at winning the top prize with his bull named Ranfurly Formula 1.

This is definitely a dream come true, and a significant milestone in the history of my herd

“Everyone aspires to breed a Stirling champion. I’ve won numerous championships at provincial shows over the years, including the Balmoral Show breed title in 2010, but this is definitely a dream come true, and a significant milestone in the history of my herd,” said David.

“Up until now my best achievement at Perth and Stirling was winning the reserve senior championship in 2007 with Ranfurly Talisman, who sold for a then herd record of 9,000gns. He was a full brother to Ranfurly Formula One.”

Crowned Danske Bank NI Simmental Male of the Year 2015, Ranfurly Formula One attracted an opening bid of 5,000gns, and after a bidding frenzy from several pedigree breeders, he was sold to judge David Donnelly for 15,000gns.
