Mid Ulster SDLP MLA Patsy McGlone has welcomed the news there has been progress on the development of a new building for Edendork Primary School.

Confirmation that a business case for a new campus is being prepared came when Mr McGlone received an answer to a question he submitted in writing to the Minister on November 18.

Mr McGlone said: “I welcome the progress on the development of a new build for the pupils at Edendork Primary School.

“The funding of this project was first announced in January 2013.

“The Minister has now confirmed that a business case is being prepared and that approval is anticipated in the new calendar year.

“At that stage a design team will be procured to take forward the design of the new school.

“While there has been a lengthy delay in the development of this project, the fact that a business case is expected to be approved in the New Year will be welcome news for all concerned at the school.

“I will continue to lobby on behalf of the school to ensure that an appropriate design is brought forward and that work will begin on site as soon as possible.”
