Cookstown council are finalising plans for an exciting new continental market in the town.
The market is expected to be held in the second week of May.
Cookstown councillor and former chair of the Town Centre Forum, John McNamee said he hoped the initiative would boost tourism and retail trade.
“The Continental Market is almost a tourist attraction in its own right with a huge demand,” he said.
“I commend the efforts made by Council staff and the positive approach by everyone involved in the Town Centre Forum to make this a reality.
“It is undoubtedly a good story for the town of Cookstown and in particular the other local traders who we hope will benefit from this event.
He added: “I would encourage everyone to come along over that weekend in May and sample both the market and of course the local retail outlets.
“They have so much to offer and will be huge part in making the weekend a great success.”
