February is Heart Month
FEBRUARY is Heart Month and British Heart Foundation (BHF) Northern Ireland and DUP MLA Ian McCrea are asking the people of Mid Ulster to join Rock Up In Red on Friday 1st February.
In Heart Month, BHF Northern Ireland encourages people across the country to think about their own hearts and the hearts of those around them.
The BHF Northern Ireland also needs local people to get involved with Rock up In Red, and raise vital funds for the charity’s life-saving work.
It’s easy to Rock Up In Red. All you have to do is wear something red, whether it’s red nails, red lipstick or even red socks, it’s really easy to do and for just £2 you’ll really be helping the charity continue its life-saving work. Anything goes, as long as it’s red!
Speaking on why he supports the Rock up in Red campaign, Ian McCrea said: “Heart disease is one of the countries single biggest killers and in the Cookstown area alone it has the third highest incident rate of coronary heart disease in the country.
“Through Hearty Lives in Cookstown the charity has been working in partnership to help address heart health inequalities in the area and this is why I am encouraging people to Rock up in Red on February 1st, or if you miss this event do something to raise money during Heart Month.”
By wearing red on Rock Up In Red and raising money, you will help BHF Northern Ireland to save lives through pioneering research, patient care, campaigning for change and by providing vital information.
At BHF Northern Ireland our aim is to fight heart disease until it is no longer the cause of premature death. It kills one in four men and women and is responsible for over 4,400 deaths in Northern Ireland each year.
