EXPERTS in family and local history will be on hand at Dungannon Library next week as part of a series of events to mark Adult Learners’ Week.
Visitors to the library next Thursday, May 17, will be able to obtain information and advice from experienced researchers from the Public Record Office, the Ulster Historical Foundation, and the Northern Ireland Family History Society.
Roddy Hegarty, from the Cardinal O’Fiaich Library and Archive, will give a talk on Catholic records in the Archdiocese of Armagh, followed by Dr Ann McVeigh from the Public Record Office, who will speak about Tracing Your Family.
Dr Brian Lambkin from the Mellon Centre for Migration Studies, meanwhile, will deliver a talk on Migration in Tyrone History 1607 to 2012.
The History Fair will take place at Dungannon Library from 10am until 2pm. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
In addition to this, Libraries NI have organised other free events at local libraries throughout Adult Learners’ Week, which runs until next Friday.
As well as wine and book tasting events and craft workshops, self-serve ‘Teach Yourself’ computer worksheets will also be available for members of the public to use at the free library computers.
