Police have confirmed that the Easter Monday security alert that took place near Cookstown was a hoax.

Calling for anyone who may have witnessed suspect activity in the area to come froward, they added that all roads have now been reopened.

ATO were called out to examine a ‘suspicious object’ that was discovered on the Drum Road near Teebane Crossroads.

Police Inspector Bryan Swan has appealed for witnesses to any suspicious activity in the area during the past number of days, or anyone who has any information about the incident, to contact CID at Cookstown Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.

Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
