£118k to Irish projects

ALMOST £40,000 a year in funding from the Department of Education has been allocated to Irish Medium Projects within the Southern Education and Library Board (SELB) area in each of the last three years.

In all, projects within the Irish Medium sector received £118,000 between 2009 and 2012.

The funding included monies made available to the youth sector, and incorporated funding allocated to schools when participants of courses were school based, in other words, teachers and students.

Education Minister, John O’Dowd, released figures for each of the five board areas following an Assembly question.

This funding relates to specific Irish Medium Projects only and does not include standard funding available.
