£120K resurfacing scheme to begin in Moneymore
ONE of Moneymore’s busiest roads is to be resurfaced at a price of £120,000.
Work on the Springhill Road will begin early next month after preparatory work was recently completed.
Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy announced the news this week.
Diversions will be in place as the work is carried out from Circular Road to a point approximately 200 metres beyond the Loup Road junction.
“This scheme will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of the carriageway on this road between Moneymore and Coagh,” said the Minister.
“Roads Service has carefully programmed the works operations and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public.
“However, motorists should be aware that some delays may be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.”
To help minimise any inconvenience to the local school and businesses and the travelling public the majority of this work has been programmed to be completed using lane closures.
A full closure of the Springhill Road will be required on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 February to facilitate the final surfacing works. During this closure a signed traffic diversion via Drumullan and Coagh will be in operation. Local access will be retained.
The scheme is expected to be substantially completed on Sunday 3 February.
The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions and Roads Service will keep the public informed of any change.
