2012 Awards will ‘promote excellence’ in Mid-Ulster
THE MAYOR of Dungannon has urged all businesses in the region to put themselves forward for the Mid-Ulster Business Awards 2012.
At the launch of the Awards on Thursday in the Council Offices, Kenneth Reid, Mayor of the Borough of Dungannon and South Tyrone, called upon the best of the business community to come forward with their nominations.
“I would encourage local businesses to embrace the Mid-Ulster Business Awards and the aims which focuses on the strengths and opportunities with a healthy competition which will bring out the best in us all,” he said.
“The recession continues but so with it is the determination to promote the excellence with which the Mid-Ulster area is known.
“I am sure that the awards will cover all aspects of business and industry in this area and will attract many of our businesses - to push their credentials and challenge the judges.
“In my final weeks as Mayor I am delighted to host the launch of the Mid-Ulster Business Awards. Dungannon Council are delighted to be once again associated with these awards for the second consecutive year through our funding of Dungannon Regeneration Partnership.
“We at council look forward to the showcase event on the Hill of the O’Neill. The awards ceremony will be one of our opening events showcasing our flagship project which, together with our finest businesses, will highlight, not only to the region but to Europe and the World, that Mid-Ulster is an area for doing business and even in these difficult times is building towards a brighter future.
“We are delighted to be putting money towards this enterprise for the second year and I think it is very, very important as it gives us this opportunity to actually help both large and small businesses to promote themselves and to come forward and get recognition on a large scale.”
He expressed his disappointment that neighbouring council in Cookstown had failed to give their support to the Awards for the second year.
