Abandoned bunnies need a good home
Abandoned pet rabbits in Parkanaur.
HEARTLESS owners have calloulsy dumped four fluffy pet rabbits at a local forest park.
The animals were found at Parkanaur Forest by Eamon McClean, Trust Manager of Speedwell, who has been attempting to take care of them. He said that abandoning them was ‘a very irresponsible act’.
“I would like to highlight the dangers of people abandoning domesticated animals in a natural environment. It is a very careless thing to do.
“Not only will these animals face dangers from predators such as foxes and buzzards, they are also at risk of catching diseases or being hit by traffic.
“They are four lovely rabbits and are very tame. They have been here from last weekend.”
Mr McClean said that he had contacted the USPCA and the local council, but both organisations claimed that looking after the animals was not their responsibility,
“The Speedwell trust is closing now for a few weeks, and I will not be around to look out for the animals”, he added.
“I would urge the owners to take responsibility and find a proper refuge for these animals, or, failing that, if there are any pet-lovers out there who can give the animals a good home they are welcome to take them.”
The animals appear to be in a good state of health and can be found in undergrowth close to the park exit.
