Accused not permitted to attend flag protests

A DUNGANNON man has been told that he will not be allowed to attend flag protests after being released on bail on a riotous behaviour charge.

William Davison, 22, from Wellington Road, stands accused of five charges relating to incidents at Market Square, Circular Road and Northland Road on December 7.

He stands charged with possession of any offensive weapon, namely a flag pole, in a public place and using threatening, abusive and insulting words with intent to provoke a breach of the peace.

He is further alleged to have used riotous behaviour and two counts of obstructing traffic in a public place.

An officer from the PSNI told the court that she believed that she could connect the defendant to the charges before the court.

Adjourning the case until March 22, District Judge John Meehan told the defendant that he was “not to attend any flag protests” as part of his bail conditions.
