Ardboe man appears on assault charges

A TWENTY SEVEN year old Ardboe man has been charged with common assault and two counts of criminal damage.

Michael Owens, of Lurgyroe Glen, Ardboe appeared in East Tyrone Magistrates’ Court in relation to an incident on September 23rd this year.

Owens is alleged to have assaulted a woman on this date as well as damaging both her mobile phone and her house phone.

A police constable told the court he believed he could connect the accused to the charges.

Owens denies the charges against him.

The case was adjourned for two weeks to allow the prosecution to check the availability of witnesses.

Owens was released on bail under strict bail conditions.
