MUMS and Dads, have you ever thought about using a sling or baby carrier to carry your child but either didn’t know where to start or tried and found it uncomfortable?

Then come along to Edendork St Malachy’s Pavilion on Good Friday, March 29, from 10am-12pm and meet the mummies from Babywearing NI!

Babywearing NI (BWNI) was established in 2010 by local mum of three, Beth Beaney, who discovered the convenience of babywearing with her first child but found there were limited resources in Northern Ireland.

BWNI is a province wide organisation with regular fortnightly meetings in Bridge Community Centre, Lisburn - check Babywearing NI’s Facebook page for details.

At the meeting on Good Friday there will be a wide selection of slings and carriers to try and hire. Beth has just completed the highest level of training in Babywearing and is now a certified Trageschule UK Babywearing Consultant so will be able to fully advise on safe, comfortable babywearing.

Local mother, Claire Hackett, discovered BWNI when her son was 14 months old and says: “For me, using a baby carrier is so liberating. For quick messages in the town, it is much handier than taking out a pram and trying to manoeuvre it around shops.

“Out and about my 22 month-old son can see everything on my level and it gives us a great opportunity to talk about what we see. And when he’s seen enough, he can put his head on my chest or back and go to sleep.”

You can also contact BWNI directly at slings@babywearingni.co.uk Come for the babywearing, stay for the craic!
