Coalisland man fined £250

A COALISLAND man stopped while driving with no driving licence has been fined £250 by East Tyrone Magistrates’ Court.

Brian Gerard O’Neill, 32, of Annaghmore Road, Coalisland was stopped by police driving a Seat Leon car at the Ranfurley Road, Dungannon on January 20th 2012.

The court was told that when stopped O’Neill was able to produce an insurance policy but could not produce a driving licence.

A defence solicitor told the court that his client had been banned from driving in 2006 but he had not released that this meant he had to resit his test.

The solicitor told the court that his client has since sat his test and now holds a valid driving licence.

District Judge John Meehan fined O’Neill £250 and endorsed his licence with 4 penalty points.
