DETECTIVES in Magherafelt are appealing for information following a burglary in the Bridge Street area of Castledawson.

Thieves entered the vacant property and stripped copper from the building as well as causing some internal damage as a result. Lead flashing from roof of the house and a neighbouring bar were also stolen.

It is believed that entry was gained to the property through a rear upstairs bedroom window and that the stolen metal was taken out this way and into the car park of the bar.

The area is adjacent to Main Street, Castledawson and is well lit and quite public, so police are appealing to anyone who noticed any unusual activity in the area, sometime before Saturday (January 5) to contact them at Magherafelt CID on 0845 600 8000. Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
