DUNGANNON and South Tyrone Borough Council are getting ready to host a St Patrick’s Day Cultural Parade and Concert in the town on March 18.

The pageant will take the form of a street procession through Dungannon Town Centre, incorporating floats and street style carnival parading alongside accordion and pipe bands and a multi-cultural extravaganza of dance movement recognising the cultural identity of communities within the area.

The event will also entail a cultural concert celebrating identities and traditions through music, song and dance within the Borough and create a festival style atmosphere.

Mayor Councillor Phelim Gildernew, speaking at the launch said: “I would urge the support of towns and villages from the Borough to utilise this event as a way of showcasing talent and distinctiveness of individual areas and would urge all inhabitants to come to Dungannon and enjoy a fun filled afternoon of cultural diversity for all the family to enjoy. In fact the whole weekend of events are not to be missed and with no admission fees what better way to celebrate St Patrick’s weekend.”

March 18 will also see an Open Air Concert with highly renowned acts on stage throughout the day. This is a must-see event for all the family to attend.

The concert will commence at 2.30pm with a fantastic line-up including international acts Colum Sands and Maggie Mc Innes, exciting new band Jarlaith Henderson Trio, a native of Dungannon, and culminating in the acclaimed Four Men and A Dog to raise the roof. There will also live acts supporting throughout the afternoon.

This will be the largest open air event in Dungannon this year and one not to be missed.

Outdoor amusements will also be available on Sunday 17 and Monday 18 March to entertain the more daredevil among us.
